This beautiful and quaint 150 year old cottage has been fully restored to a high standard and is situated on the edge of a small village close to the N17 on the outskirts of Poiares.
Originally, the cottage was the old bakery for the neighbouring village. Care has been taken to fully restore the original bread oven which dominates the kitchen, although no longer used as such.
The name of the cottage “Poco do Moinho” gives reference to the large water well being one of the largest and deepest in Poiares which still has a fully functioning water wheel.
The cottage sits on approx ¼ acre has a large walled, very private courtyard, with an undercover bar at the bottom and is great for BBQ’s on an evening. There is also plenty of room for your car to be parked behind the locked gates. You can enjoy the sun all day long in the courtyard and makes it a great place to sunbath in peace.
To the side of the house there is a very large garden which houses the water well. The top of the garden is stoned for easy maintenance and gives access to the Kitchen.
With the external walls being almost a foot and a half thick the house stays cool in the summer months.
